A few nights ago in Philadelphia, a young man, perhaps encouraged by his friends or under the influence of too many Budweiser beverages, did something that is both frowned upon but not exactly uncommon.
Wearing his National League Champions Phillies t-shirt and holding what appeared to be a white towel, this young fan made a bad decision by jumping on to the field after the seventh inning and started to run around.
We’ve all seen this before, some drunken buffoon looking for attention or thanks to a dare by his buddies, hops over the fence and goes for a jog. On rare occasions the individual can have his fun and quickly disappear back into the crowd.
I remember attending a Toronto Blue Jays game in the early 90’s when a young man wearing only an athletic support ran on to the Skydome turf, ran over to Outfielder George Bell and then bounded over the low fence back into the crowd. The security people had an idea where he was but by the time they got there the fans were all pointing in different directions to throw them off and the semi-streaker had found his clothes and looked like any other Jays fan.
Such was not the case for the young man on this night in the land of the Philly Cheesesteak. He was quite agile and able to elude the grounds crew and security but there was one police officer who was not going to let him get away.
Luckily for the young man the cop didn’t pull his gun. But unfortunately for this trespassing fan, the cop did remove his taser or stun gun from its holster and took aim on the fleeing individual. With a pull of the trigger the red-shirted law breaker was quickly shocked with electricity, fell to the ground and was subdued by those in pursuit.
So the question that arises is, was this too aggressive on the part of the officer? For years people have made it almost a right of passage to interrupt a game by being an idiot and running on to the field, only to be tackled and hauled away to baseball jail a short time later. Rarely is anyone ever injured.
That isn’t to say injuries haven’t occurred. I recall two tattooed morons attacking a first base coach one time before the entire team came to his rescue. In this day and age, I suppose you never know what people’s intentions are. And it’s likely wise to err on the side of caution.
So, I believe not only was the use of the stun gun not a bad idea but I think if this became the preferred method of dealing with these yahoo’s, they might think twice before acting in such a foolish manner.
I’m quite sure that had the dummy in Philadelphia known what was coming, he might have taken the white towel he was carrying and waved it in the air to surrender before having his convulsive experience.

Flip Flop Drunk
OK...this might be the funniest thing I've seen in a while.
There's no special effects, no words are spoken and the only things harmed were a liver and the chances this guy might have had to meet women.
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you..."Drunk Guy Trying To Put On His Flip Flops."
I love it when it manged to to stand up, only to lose both flip flops, nearly fall down and then notices the girls and walks over to them with a "hey there, ladies, here I am, the man of your dreams".
I don't remember ever doing that but I've certainly had my drunken moments over the years. Of course that was a long long time ago.

May I Have Your Attention Please
We interrupt this blog for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.OK...so my team (Montreal Canadiens) are in tough against the Washington Capitals down 2-1 in the series and will likely not survive the first round.
This does not mean I'll stop watching once they're out and therefore it will be tough for me to update my blog when my butt is firmly planted in my comfy chair.
If I find some time I'll try and get some new stuff up but as any Canadian will tell you...when the Playoffs begin, we can not be reached unless it's an emergency.

Harper's A Habs Fan
As most Canadians know, Prime Minister Stephen Harper is a big time hockey fan.
OK, any Member of Parliament that isn't should be force to resign as it's mandatory to be a fan of our National Sport to hold office.
Any way, a friend of mine snapped this photo outside of the PM's home at 24 Sussex Drive in Ottawa last night. It clearly shows Prime Minister Harper and the U.S. Ambassador to Canada David Jacobson bringing in the brewskies from the trunk of the limo. They were getting ready to cheer on the Montreal Canadiens as they looked to clinch a playoff spot (which they did) against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Nothing more Canadian than watching Hockey Night In Canada on a Saturday night with some cold pops and a good neighbour.

Tattoos and Piercings On Women - Not A Fan
Women are beautiful! Any man attracted to women will agree that the female form is a masterpiece and something to admire and appreciate. No matter the ethnicity or colour of a woman, if she's a beauty in the eye of this beholder, I think nothing is more attractive.
But something has happened in the last 20 years or so that I am not a fan of and that is tattoos and oddly placed piercings on women. I just don't understand why any woman would scar their bodies by injecting ink into their skin or by sticking things through their nose, lips or other body parts. It isn't attractive in the least and I'm sure their wedding photos will be something to behold. Now I'm not saying that a woman who decides to use her body as a canvas or jewelry showcase is a bad person. On the contrary, I just don't understand why a woman would decorate her body like a Christmas tree. I understand that it's a lifestyle choice or a way to make a statement. I'm just not sure what statement you're trying to make when you have steel rods through your nose and lips or rings above your eyebrows. Do they have to remove those before going through the metal detectors at the airport?
Am I old-fashioned? Perhaps but strictly speaking as a single guy with my own personal views and beliefs, I think it's completely revolting. It's a good thing I don't have kids because I'd never allow them to have tattoos or piercings...aside from maybe the ears and belly button when they're older. Is it a youth and rebellion thing? I will admit that as a young adult I had an earring in one ear. It was a peer pressure thing that I got sucked into and I had it for several years before finally getting rid of it. I thought it was cool but as I got older and more mature I realized it was anything but cool.
When I see photos or even witness first hand how far some of these women are willing to go I have to wonder if there's more to this than just a love of the art. It's one thing to have a small tattoo hidden someplace or a tramp stamp on your lower back but to cover your arms, back, chest, legs or other areas leads me to believe there are other issues at work.
What ever happened to wearing a T-Shirt if you wanted to make a statement? At least you could take it off at the end of the day. All of the women featured in the photos here are beautiful but the tattoos and piercings just don't do it for me.
It's a rare treat today to see a younger, attractive woman with zero tattoos or oddly located piercings. I congratulate them for not following this trend and resisting what I'm sure are numerous temptations and pressures to hop on the body art bandwagon. In the end, my opinion is only that and a woman is the master of her own body and if she chooses to use it like a wall for a graffiti artist then so be it. It is her skin. I just think it will be funny when these young women start to age and all of that skin art begins to stretch and sag and her butterfly eventually starts to resemble an ugly wrinkled bat.
