Funniest Video of 2011

I've watched my fair share of videos over the year but this one is by far the funniest one I've come across. I honestly laughed so hard watching this I was in tears.

Now you should know that I'm a huge hockey fan and unlike a lot of other people (mostly tree-huggers) I am a fan of Don Cherry. I agree with 95% of what he has to say regarding the game and his support of the Canadian military is second to none. The troops love Don! He's a colourful, outspoken hockey commentator on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada and a former NHL Coach of the Year. He also has a style of his own.

Having said that, I'm sure even Don would get a big charge out of this video which is very well done. I have to admit, when I watched this edition of Coaches Corner recently, I also thought Don was trying to play us a tune.

Stanley Cup Final Going Seven

I don't care for the Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins don't really excite my athletic supporter but I for one have enjoyed the NHL Stanley Cup Final between these two teams.

Sure I'd rather see my Montreal Canadiens there, and to be honest I don't expect to see them there any time soon, but if my favourite team can't win "The Cup" then all I can hope for is some good, exciting, physical hockey and these two teams have delivered.

So I am actually pumped to see this series go the full seven games. I guess if I have to choose a team to cheer for I'd probably pick the flightless birds since the Wings won last year. Actually, once my Habs were out and I knew Ovechkin wasn't going to win, I stopped cheering for any one particular team.

As I've stated in the past I haven't been impressed by the officiating through these playoffs but I think they've done a better job in the finals.

So make sure your popcorn is popped, put on your loudest Don Cherry jacket, get the beverages on ice and tune your TV to Hockey Night in Canada because Friday night we are in for one heck of a finish.

Memories of Bob & Doug

Won't you join me as we travel back to the 1980's and the phenomenon that helped to define Canadians and how the rest of the world viewed us.

When was the last time you called someone a "Hoser" or told them to "Take Off Eh"?

Of course we have Bob and Doug McKenzie of SCTV to thank for this.

Even today when I visit the United States and someone I meet finds out I'm a Canadian they call me a hoser. Of course, we aren't really like Bob and Doug but they weren't all wrong either. There is some truth to their sketch comedy.
